Ultrasonography

In the clinic we do examination of the abdomen, diagnose the pregnancy, as well echocardiographic examinations with modern ultrasound appliance.

Ultrasonography, or ultrasound, is a diagnostic imaging technique similar to radiography (X-rays) and is usually used in conjunction with radiography and other diagnostic measures. It allows visualization of the deep structures of the body such as the liver, spleen, kidneys, muscles, tendons, heart etc. The procedure is safe and comfortable for your pet and can provide important information in diagnosing difficult cases. This not only allows for your convenience, but more importantly ensures an accurate and immediate diagnosis for your pet. 

In ANIMAL MEDICA, we apply ultrasound for a variety of purposes including examination of the organs of the abdomen or chest, the eyes and the orbit, and even the brain structures. We also use ultrasound to determine pregnancy and to monitor an ongoing pregnancy. Ultrasound can detect fluid, cysts, tumors or abscesses.

An annual ultrasound examination is advisable to be done in animals older than 7 years.

DIAGNOSTIC CHECKUPS AND TREATMENT

Regular checkup of healthy and sick animals – obligatory measuring of the body temperature, checkup of the condition of lungs, visible mucous membrane and skin.  

Extraordinary checkup of sick animal – the methods and tests applied depend on the localization and the doubt of localization of the painful process:

• Microscopic checkup of smear taken from different parts of the animal’s body.
• Ottoscopic checkup – checkup and cure of the external hearing channel and the eardrum. Checkup of the entire ear. Taking smear from the ear channel and scabby examination.
• Ophtalmological checkup  – checkup and treatment of the eye diseases.
• Taking blood for analysis – blood test and examination of the biochemical parameters of the blood serum. 
• Parasitical checkup
• Pathohistological checkup (tumors)

The two latest checkups are carried out at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Skopje.

VACCINATION

There are many diseases that can impair the health of the home pets (mainly dogs and cats), and some of them can be fatal.  They include: plague-pestilence, parvovirosis, infective hepatitis of dogs and panleucopoenia of cats. Here, we can mention the rabies, which apart from the dogs and cats might be dangerous for the humans. Vaccination is administered as protection from such diseases.

STOMATOLOGY dentistry

The oral diseases are often health problem which appears at 75% of dogs and cats over the age of three. If they are not treated, the oral diseases may cause bad breath, pain, decay and loss of teeth, metabolic diseases (problems with kidneys and liver) and damages of heart and its structures.  

Healthy teeth may improve the health and prolong the life of your pet.

 

The most frequent signs of oral diseases:

• Bad breath
• Tartar and Calculus (yellow-brown deposits on the teeth)
• Difficulties in taking food
• Loss of appetite
• Increased salivating
• Loosing teeth
• Gum inflammation (gingivitis – red, swelling or bleeding gums)

SURGERIES

ANIMAL MEDICA has a team of surgeons available for performance of the majority of the surgical operations in dogs, cats, rabbits, as well as other small animals, birds and reptiles.  

In order to ensure that animals can undergo surgery, all pets should be examined prior to surgery by one of our veterinarians. It includes ultrasound examination of the heart and abdominal organs, ECG, blood analysis of liver and kidneys and other examinations.

ANIMAL MEDICA is equipped with modern surgical equipment which allows us to perform advanced surgical procedures including spinal, chest and abdominal surgery, orthopedics and many ophthalmic procedures.

Hygiene of the surgery room and sterilization procedures of the operation field are in pace with modern practice and designed to minimize the risk of post surgical infections.
Using modern protocols for anesthesia and modern patient monitoring equipment during the surgery, ANIMAL MEDICA succeeds to achieve high safety level in surgical procedures. In addition, each patient is connected to a monitor to follow its heart function during the surgery.
